Skid Row 

Skid Row is a neighborhood in downtown Los Angeles, California. The area is officially known as Central City East. In the 2019 census, the population of the area was 4,757. Skid Row has one of the most stable numbers (about 4,200-8,000) of homeless people in the United States and has been known for its high number of homeless people since the 1930s. The long record of targeted police raids for urban planning and the fight against homelessness makes Skid Row one of the unique neighborhoods in Los Angeles, CA. It covers 50 urban blocks (2.71 square kilometers) directly from downtown Los Angeles; Skid Row is located between three streets to the north, Seventh Street to the south, Alameda Street to the east, and Main Street to the west.

Culture 

Skid Row is home to many artists. Due to its proximity to areas such as the Historical Center and the Arts District, Skid Row often hosts events that cross regional boundaries.
